An artist at heart, Tom combines their love of visual language and fascination of psychology into their creative medium of choice, cinematography. Taking inspiration from the Renaissance masters and their ability to successfully tell an entire story in one frame, assuming the painting was in fact framed, through the use of composition, gestures, eyelines and structure. Another important inspiration are the Baroque era masters, mentoring from beyond the grave with their mastery of lighting, atmosphere and texture. The influence of which is evident in Tom’s cinematography work.

A big believer that knowledge isn’t a commodity to be hoarded but rather a shared social resource to be celebrated and engaged with enthusiastically, Tom also writes for Cinematography magazine Cinegirl. Tom’s journalism focus is on removing the obfuscation surrounding the film industry through investigative articles that share a wealth of knowledge and experience through in depth interviews with industry experts, professionals and peers.
